Carroll County Food Bank Drive
A recent poll by the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows Ohio to have the third highest rate of families skipping meals or eating less because they lack the resources to put food on the table. In response, the Ohio State University Alumni Association has declared April a Service Month when Alumni across the country volunteer to support their local food banks. The OSU Alumni Club of Carroll-Harrison Counties has organized a food drive in support of Loaves and Fishes.
During the month of April, donation collection points have been set up inside several local businesses in Carrollton. Those wishing to donate food and household items can do so during normal business hours at Discount Drug Mart, Dollar General Market, McFadden Insurance Agency, and Thorne’s Market. Canned or boxed foods, as well as basic household items (e.g. soap, cleaning products, toothpaste, etc.) will be gratefully accepted on behalf of Loaves and Fishes. Our Club will provide the muscle to collect and transfer the donated items to the food bank.
Those who wish to provide direct financial support are encouraged to send a check made out to “Loaves and Fishes” to: Loaves and Fishes, P.O. Box 551, Carrollton, OH 44615. The food bank’s physical location is 211 Moody Ave. SW, Carrollton, OH 44615, and hours of operation can be obtained by calling 330-627-3424 (Rev. Gordon Warner, Director). Questions regarding the food drive can be directed to Alumni Club Officers Erin Nunner (firstname.lastname@example.org, 740-491-0404) or Wes King (email@example.com, 607-382-7495) .
The Food Drive will be advertised in the Free Press Standard and also on our Club’s website as a way to encourage our membership and the general public to support this worthy cause. Club Members who would like to volunteer should contact Club Officers Erin Nunner or Wes King.
Thanks for your support and GO BUCKEYES!
